A Box Full of Kisses

.$contents->author_name.

The story goes that some time ago, a man punished his 3-years-old daughter for wasting a roll of gold wrapping paper. Money was tight and he became infuriate when the child tried to decorate a box to put under the Christmas tree. Nevertheless, the little girl brought the gift to her father the next morning and said, "This is for you, Daddy."

The man was embarrassed by his earlier overreaction, but his anger flared again when he found out the box was empty. He yelled at his her, stating, "Don't you know, when you give someone present, there is supposed to be something inside?" The little girl look up at him with tears i her eyes and cried, "Oh, Daddy, it's not empty at all. I blew kisses into the box. They're all for you, Daddy."

The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little girl, and he begged for his forgiveness.

Only a short time lather, an ancient took the life of the child. It's also told that her father kept the gold box by his bed for many years and, whenever he was discouraged, he would take out an imaginary kiss and remember the love of the child who had put it there.

In a very real sense, each one of us, as human beings, have been given a gold container filled with unconditional love and kisses...from our children, family members, friends, and God. There is simply no possession, anyone could hold, more precious than this.

    a character-builder for the kids

It’s time for most of the area’s athletes to trade in those singlets, basketball shoes and swimming suits for baseball gloves, tennis racquets and soccer balls.

Just as winter sports are reaching their climax, spring sports are just getting started.

Monday marked the first official day of spring practice and with sunny skies — it couldn’t have been more enjoyable for local athletes.

“It went well for us because we had good weather. I can’t remember too many (opening) days like today,” Carlisle girls’ soccer coach Greg Clippinger said. “It was just great to be outside.”

Clippinger’s soccer players and the members of coach Brett Livingston’s baseball team were among those that got to take the field Monday.

Clippinger and Livingston were both happy with the quality of their team’s facilities.

“The field is a little dry,” Clippinger said. “The grass is flat and the field needs to be rolled out a little bit and given time to defrost. But it’s fine, we’re not complaining, at least we get to be outside.”

Livingston’s coaching staff spent the past weekend working on Carlisle’s baseball field.

“The coaches worked very hard over the weekend dragging the field,” Livingston said. “The weather cooperated.”

Clippinger had 27 girls turn out for the first day, a number he considers low, but acceptable. Clippinger will probably not have to make any cuts, but Livingston faces that challenge with 40 players showing up on opening day.

Livingston wasn’t focused on conducting tryouts on Monday. Instead, he let all of the kids have their day in the sun. Using live pitching, Carlisle’s prospects simply went out and played the game of baseball.

“In the five years I’ve been here, this is the nicest day I’ve had for opening day,” Livingston said. “We didn’t want to worry about tryouts today, we just wanted to have some live ball-playing fun for the kids.
We must also note that children wear shoes in sports. Such as in playing basketball must wear basketball shoes

There is one piece of the ballfield that wasn’t there for opening day. Inside the home dugout used to be an old toilet. The toilet, not hooked up of course, served as a place for players to write down their errors on scraps of paper and flush those errors away.

“The toilet’s gone, it blew over in the winter,” Livingston said. “We’ll try to get a new one. (That toilet) is a character-builder for the kids.”

be higher up on the podium

What the Licking Valley pair, however, represented was another notable step in the return of the Panthers' program, and their stint in the tournament, which included a dramatic consolation victory for Redman, gave the entire Valley program another clear goal.

"Now that we have somebody there, a couple of our kids that were younger came over and watched and know they were close to it this year," Valley coach Jeremy Tate said. "It will give them motivation for next year."

Valley won its second straight Mid-State League-Ohio Division championship, sent wrestlers in 10 of the 14 weight classes to the district tournament and qualified two to state after consecutive years without a state qualifier.

That kind of optimism is apparent across the rest of the area, too. With the first wave of wrestlers from Licking County Youth Wrestling currently making an impact at the varsity level and successive waves to come, the area might be ready for another revival at the state level.

"I kind of feel like maybe those kids can look at us going to state, and maybe they will say, 'I want to do that. They were in the same jordan shoes I was, and now they are on top of the podium at state,'" said Licking Heights senior Eric Wolfe, who placed sixth in Division II at 135 pounds. "Maybe that will give them hope and start to bring back the wrestling program to when we were winning state titles."

Sheridan senior Drew Carpenter's state title at heavyweight in Division II was the area's first since 2003 and second since the mid-1990s. It has not always been that way, however.

Heights, which has the area's only three team titles, has had 17 individual champions, a number that still ranks in the top 20 in the state. Watkins Memorial has two, as does Valley from Tate in 1993 and '94. Newark, Newark Catholic and Utica each have one.

In recent years, powers such as Lakewood St. Edward, St. Paris Graham, Troy Christian and Sandusky St. Mary Central Catholic have dominated the brackets in the various divisions, but Carpenter has proven a state title is within reach.

"Once you get to that level, it is all going to be mental," Tate said. "There are a few four-timers that are better than everybody, and nobody is going to beat them. I would say 80 percent are at the same level, and whoever is mentally prepared is going to win that match."

The area had 16 qualifiers, representing eight of the 12 schools, and that number could approach 20 in 2011. Nine of those wrestlers placed, including Heath junior Dom Barlow, who placed fourth at 135 in Division III for his third state medal. Such as shoes, my favorite brands of shoes to wear Jordan shoes

Barlow will head into next season with hopes of being a four-time state placer, but he will not take that success for granted. Heath coach Roger Morgan said Barlow admitted before the tournament that anything not at least equal to his previous fourth- and sixth-place finishes could have been seen as a failure.

"We just weren't sure what his goals were. You really find out what his goals are when you have a loss like that (on the first day)," Morgan said.

"He was really nervous about not placing, but we saw that he was willing to work. Some guys might not do that."

It is that type of drive from the area's standouts that could make the crowning of a state champion a more regular occurrence.

"Standing on the sixth podium and looking up at the people higher than me, it didn't really feel that good," said Heights sophomore Tyler Price, who finished placed sixth at 103 in Division II. "I promised myself to come back next year and be higher up on the podium."

What should we do after Chile Earthquake

.$contents->author_name.

From the recently news, we usually hear some information about the latest situation about Chile. On the 27th, Feb, 2010, at 03:34 local time, rating a magnitude of 8.8 earthquake happened and lasting for about three minutes. Lots of people died and still others have been reporting missing. There are so many people’s house were damaged that they lack of water, food and so on. They are now in tight place.
Facing these things, what should you think? The aid to Chile is necessary, but do you think others?

Several month ago, we all know that there was also happened a huge earthquake in Haiti. According to the Haitian Government reports that about more than 200,000 had been identified as dead, an estimated 300,000 injured and 1,000,000 homeless.

On May 12, 2008 in Sichuan province of China was also happened a great earthquake. And at least 68000 people were died, still lots of people were injured and missing.

May be from these news we will ask why so many disasters occured in recent years?

I think it is a warning to our human that we should pay more attention on protecting our earth and environment. Yes, with the development of society, we enjoy lots of benefits and happiness on high technology and see the big change of the world. However, there are more and more problems come out gradually, like Ozone Hole, Greenhouse Effect, or the Sea Level Rise for the climate change and so forth which are all threaten to our existence.

Watching the disaster happened one by one, we should not think it is far from us, we are on the earth, we are a whole family, they are near us. So it is our all duty to protect the environment from you and me. Maybe we cannot do the big contribution to the world, but if we do each small action and add them together, I think that would become a great for our world. Let all of us thrive to future together and reduce grief and create a better environment for generation and generation.
