As a college student who loves to cook, I find it really hard to find the best  knife sets. I had to read many knife blogs till I was lucky to stumble upon a knife set that was under $100 and it also had a rating of 4.5 on Amazon. The knife set that I’m talking about is the Ginsu Chikara 8-Piece Knife Set. It also comes with knife block that has a Bamboo Finish.

The Knives in the Set

You will get a 3-1/2-inch paring knife, a 5-inch utility knife, a 5-inch serrated knife, a 7-inch santoku knife, 8-inch a chef’s knife, a pair of kitchen shears and a sharpening rod. This is a very good set of knives for someone who is starting out or someone who is studying like me as it gives you the basic and also multipurpose knives.

The Quality of the Knife Set

The Ginsu Chikara knives are a one piece metal that is made out of high Japanese quality Stainless Steel and they have been forged precisely. These knives are definitely much stronger and sharper than my previous set which I had to put a lot of effort in slicing through a lemon. I usually dry my knives after using them as I really want to maintain their condition.

I didn’t know what a balance knife felt like till I used this knife for my cooking. The cuts that I created were precise. I have to admit that I also save time in cooking since using this knife set. The one thing that really impressed me were the handles. It almost looked like the PakkaWood handle that they have on the Impressive Shun Classic. The handle of the Ginsu Chikara were black and very comfortable to grip on. Even though it looks slippery, it is not.

As a beginner, I recommend you to give this set a try especially if you’re intimidated by the big brands such as Global and Shun. I assure you that you won’t regret buying it.
